Dignity/Chicago will celebrate its 40 years of ministry in the LGBT Catholic community with an anniversary dinner Saturday, May 19, at Francesca's on Taylor, 1400 W. Taylor St., at 6 p.m., followed the next day by an anniversary Mass at 5 p.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church, 3338 N. Broadway.
The anniversary dinner guest speaker will be Jamie Manson, columnist for National Catholic Reporter. Marianne Duddy-Burke, executive director of DignityUSA, will offer the homily at the anniversary Mass.
At the dinner, Dignity/Chicago's John Michie Award for community service will be presented to the Lakeview Clergy Association. Michie, a member of Dignity/Chicago, passed away in the 1980s.
