Chancellor Bennett, otherwise known as Chance the Rapper, made a special appearance Sept. 5 at the grand opening of Nando's PERi-PERi at 117 E. Lake St.
While a huge crowd gathered across the street to see him, the performer posed for photos with the staff, grilled chicken and served his just-prepared cuisine to tables of VIP guests in the room. He made a few announcements to the crowd thanking them for supporting SocialWorks, his charity empowering youth through the arts and education. Proceeds from the following three days of sales from this establishment were donated to his cause. The new Michigan Avenue store is the 12th location to open in the Chicago area in the past two years.
The 24-year-old rapper has donated more than $20 million to schools in the Chicago area with events such as this. For more information visit ChanceRaps.com and NandosPeriPeri.com .
