LEFT: Chicagoans David W. Greer and Lee M. Neubecker were married Feb. 19 in San Francisco. The Chicago Tribune is expected to run the announcement in their main marriages section this Sunday—a first for the paper. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, meanwhile, told Greer (who is from Atlanta) that they would not run it with heterosexual marriages, but could run it in the commitment ceremonies section. About 220 newspapers around the U.S. either run same-sex union announcements or say they would be willing to do so if asked, reported GLAAD. Their announcement reads: Janice and Michael Neubecker of Brownstown Twp., along with Peggy and David P. Greer of Douglasville, Ga., announce the wedding of their sons, Lee M. Neubecker and David W. Greer, both residents of Chicago. Neubecker holds an M.B.A. from Babson College with a focus on marketing and technology. He is President and C.E.O. of Forensicon Inc. in Chicago. Greer holds a bachelors of science in education from Georgia State University. He is a realtor with Coldwell Banker's Lakeview office.
RIGHT: Richard Robert Dominiak and Michael Louis Benning were married on Feb. 18 at San Francisco City Hall. Their vows, the culmination of nearly 15 years of togetherness, were witnessed by their friends Sandra Mix and Carolyn Oliss. Dominiak is the son of Robert and Dorothy Dominiak of Bolingbrook, Ill. Benning is the son of Corrinne and Louis Benning of Chicago (both deceased). The couple met through friends in Chicago in 1989 and moved together to San Francisco in 1997, where they now reside. The newlyweds wish to thank their family and friends for the unconditional support that has made this special day possible. They also wish to thank San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and all other San Francisco City Hall staff and volunteers who enabled the couple to enjoy this special day within their lifetimes.
