Illinois receives $178M from HUD

CHICAGO—U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan announced that Illinois will receive more than $178 million to support community development and produce more affordable housing in the state, according to a press release.
HUD's annual funding will also help find homes for individuals and families living on the streets and provide permanent housing for individuals living HIV/AIDS.
The funding includes:
—$112,116,134 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds;
—$51,847,376 in HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) funding;
—$6,707,357 in Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG); and
—$7,386,881 for Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA).
Chicago is receiving more than $114 million of the funds, with the Illinois State Program getting almost $55 million. Other grantees include Aurora, McHenry County, Moline, Mount Prospect, Oak Park and Peoria. |
