The first LGBT-specific fundraiser and kick off event for the 2012 Obama campaign happens at Sidetrack, Wednesday, May 25, 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Tickets, $20, at my.barackobama.com/May25LGBT, and RSVP at www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=186519821398174

Statement from the Organizers:

Over the last two and a half years President Obama has brought about historic change for the LGBT community — signing the repeal of DADT, declaring DOMA unconstitutional and extending key benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees, including LGBT priorities in his FY2012 budget, signing Hate Crimes legislation and hosting the White House Conference on Bullying.

President Obama has been in our corner. Chicago's LGBT community will show that we're in his with a kick off event on May 25 at Sidetrack at 7:00pm.

Obama for America 2012 is up and running and is based out of Chicago, returning to the city that propelled him to victory the first time. Join members of the LGBT community ( host committee below ) in welcoming the campaign back home and meet the LGBTs working at the highest levels of the campaign, including
