Donors to Howard Brown Health Center's Lifeline Appealthe facility's public plea for fundshave helped match a $100,000 challenge grant made by an anonymous donor earlier this month.
With the $100,000 grant, matching donations and other contributions from donors, Howard Brown's Lifeline Appeal has generated $301,603more than 60 percent of the $500,000-in-50 days goal it needs to meet by Dec. 23 in order to maintain services.
"During a week in which we reflect on the many things that we are thankful for, we are truly grateful to the community and the hundreds of donors who are stepping up with support for Howard Brown during this critical time," said Angie Frank, who along with Marcus Boggs, is volunteer co-chair of the Lifeline Appeal Committee.
Nearly 600 individuals have donated to the appeal since Nov. 9, when the challenge grant was announced. "We've reached a significant milestone in the campaign by matching the $100,000 grant by the Nov. 30 deadline. We now must continue this momentum in order to reach the significant goal of raising $500,000 by Dec. 23," said Jamal M. Edwards, president and CEO of Howard Brown. "Our entire community, including our staff, board, patients and clients and many local businesses, have all pitched in to help raise money to preserve the Howard Brown lifeline for the LGBTQA community."
The Lifeline Appeal funds will help ensure that Howard Brown can continue providing services to more than 36,000 people annually.
