Actor Robert Carlyle said that he believes that his character in the movie Trainspotting, Francis Begbie, was gay even though many consider Begbie to be one of film's biggest alpha males, according to Pinknews.co.uk. Carlyle said he became convinced of Begbie's ( closeted ) sexuality after reading a scene where he has a run-in with a transwoman. The author of the novel, Irvine Welsh, has agreed with Carlyle's interpretation—although Welsh intended for Begbie's sexuality to be ambiguous in the book.

Mel Gibson is reportedly going to make a comeback in a movie directed by Jodie Foster, who co-starred with him in the film Maverick, according to IMDB.com. Foster has signed up to direct The Beaver, about a depressed man who finds comfort in a hand puppet. Foster previously directed Little Man Tate and Home for the Holidays.

Eighties model/singer Samantha Fox ( "Touch Me" ) is apparently having a same-sex ceremony in England soon. Fox told OK! Magazine that she plans to have a civil partnership with girlfriend Myra Stratton. Fox said, "All I know is that I'm in love with Myra. I love her completely and want to spend the rest of my life with her."

Actor Alan Cumming has said in an interview with Attitude magazine that young people, especially, must make wearing condoms a priority, according to Pinknews.co.uk. The out, married actor said, "AIDS will kill you, and it will make your life terrible. You can live longer now but there will be a wave of death when the new combinations stop being effective. ... I think in some way people want to be free, and not wear a condom as if a condom is an obstacle and something we have to do to protect from potential threat."

Apparently, comic Robin Williams could audition for the TV series "Hung." According to IMDB.com, comedian and moviemaker Bobcat Goldthwaite has revealed Williams, his best friend, belongs to Hollywood's well-hung club after shooting the Oscar winner waxed and naked in the new film World's Greatest Dad. Goldthwaite said, "...I was like, 'Why are you insecure...?' If I was hung like him I wouldn't have pants on right now."

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation ( GLAAD ) is criticizing World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ) Chairman Vince McMahon after he derided Cirque du Soleil performers' outfits by saying, "Those outfits are really gay," WrestleZone.com reported. Ted Rybka, GLAAD's director of sports media, said, "The WWE's Web site states, 'WWE is committed to family-friendly, PG content across all of its platforms including television programming, pay-per-view, digital media and publishing.' However, off-handedly using 'gay' in a derogatory manner is anything but family-friendly."

On the TV show Gossip Girl, bad-boy character Chuck Bass ( played by Ed Westwick ) had a same-sex encounter in the Oct. 19 episode, according to a Boston Herald item. Actor Neal Bledsoe played the object of Bass' affection—a New York University administrator. In the Gossip Girl book series, Bass is bisexual. In real life, speculation has been rife that Westwick has had a relationship with co-star Chace Crawford.

Out actress Kelly McGillis has reportedly joined the cast of Stake Land, a vampire road movie, according to Advocate.com. Horror-aficionado Web site Bloody Disgusting describes McGilis' role as a nun who joins a small team of survivors ... as they make a treacherous journey north to safety through the war-torn United States." McGillis' past projects include the movies Top Gun, Witness and The Accused as well as the TV series The L Word.

According to a new book by photographer Juergen Teller, a Marc Jacobs collaborator, Men's Vogue magazine once rejected a Jacobs ad because of its gay content, according to an Advocate.com item. In talking with New York Times fashion blog The Moment, Teller discovered that the publication—which now only runs twice a year—turned out the ad, which featured makeup artist Dick Page and his husband kissed, back in 2006.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were one of the celebrity "cougar-kitten" couples spotlighted in a recent New York Daily News article. DeGeneres is 51 while de Rossi is 35. Other couples included "Cougar Town" star Courteney Cox Arquette, 45, and her husband, David, 38; married actors Demi Moore, 46, and Ashton Kutcher, 31; Madonna, 51, and 22-year-old boyfriend Jesus Luz; and singer Mariah Carey, 40 and her husband, Nick Cannon, 28.

In Washington, D.C., the AIDS Healthcare Foundation has opened its first HIV/AIDS treatment center, which is named the AHF Blair Underwood Healthcare Center after the actor and AIDS advocate, according to the Washington Blade. The opening ceremony took place Sept. 24 and featured appearances by Underwood, and Roxanne Cox-Iyami, M.D., medical director of the clinic.

Singer Mika, in an interview with Dutch magazine Gay & Night, said, "Call me bisexual, if you need a term for me," according to Pinknews.co.uk. The musician, whose sexuality has been a hot topic ever since he released his first CD two years ago, added, "I've never ever labeled myself. But having said that, I've never limited my life. I've never limited who I sleep with."

Actress Kelly Rutherford—who portrays Lily on TV's Gossip Girl—has been granted a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband, Daniel Giersch, according to US Magazine. Rutherford has claimed the German businessman has repeatedly harassed her and her family. According to TheInsider.com, Giersch is gay and the marriage of two years has ended over "irreconcilable differences."

Openly gay American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert's new album is apparently all the rage. His first album is already number two on Amazon.com's sales list, trailing only Barbra Streisand's new jazz CD—and Lambert's album won't be released until Nov. 24, according to People.com. In reaching the spot, Lambert is ahead of such musical acts as Madonna, the Beatles and Susan Boyle.

Actor James Franco—known for his roles in the films Milk and Pineapple Express—will join the daytime serial General Hospital, according to TheInsider.com. Franco, who will also play gay writer Allen Ginsberg in the upcoming movie Howl, begins a recurrent guest spot on the soap opera Nov. 20; he will reportedly be on the show for approximately two months.

Despite claims in the National Enquirer to the contrary, Mad Men star Bryan Batt does not plan to wed his partner, Tom Cianfichi, anytime soon, according to an Advocate.com item. Batt's representative told Buddy TV that " [ t ] heir goal is to eventually marry, but the time has yet to be determined and will not happen this year." Batt and Cianfichi reside in New Orleans, La., where they co-own a home-furnishings store, Hazelnut.

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich may be on the next season of TV's Celebrity Apprentice, according to the Chicago Tribune. The show—a star-filled take on The Apprentice—will feature contestants competing in business-related tasks in order to become Donald Trump's celebrity apprentice. Steve Webster, a spokesman for the show's producer, said he could neither confirm nor deny the rumor.

In Maine, actress Sally Struthers ( TV's All in the Family ) attended a fundraiser for the "No on 1" campaign, which aims to keep the state's gay-marriage law valid, according to SeacoastOnline.com. Struthers said, "You have to be without any good conscience to vote against a law that is going to give people the rights we all deserve. God is love and wants us to love one another." Voters will be asked Nov. 3 if they want to repeal the law by voting "yes" or keep the measure by voting "no." The event raised $35,000.

Late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon made a couple Gay Games jokes recently—and they have been attacked for being lame, according to Outsports.com. One joke went, "It was announced yesterday that Cleveland, Ohio, will host the 2014 Gay Games. That's weird—I thought New York always hosted the Tony Awards."

Rapper 50 Cent has apologized for saying that Lady Gaga and Kanye West's now-canceled "Fame Kills" tour was for gay people, according to hiphoprx.com. In a radio interview with personality Angie Martinez, 50 said that he doesn't have a problem with how other people live and praised Lady Gaga, saying that her music is great. Gaga now plans to tour solo.

Legendary actress and AIDS activist Dame Elizabeth Taylor is assuring her fans that she is fine after being in the hospital to have a leaky heart valve repaired, according to People.com. Taylor recently Tweeted, "Dear Friends, My heart procedure went off perfectly. It's like having a brand new ticker. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes … I know they all helped. Love you, Elizabeth." Taylor, who has a lengthy history of medical problems, underwent an experimental procedure called a laparoscopic operation.

Stephen Moyer, who plays vampire Bill Compton on the TV series True Blood, has said that he'd like to have a sex scene with Eric Northman, the character played by Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd, Digital Spy reported. Moyer said, "Alex is a good friend of mine and a fantastic actor and I love working with Alex and I don't get to do it as much as I would love to. ... You never know—whether they'll stick Eric and Bill in bed together, I don't know. But here's hoping."

Actor Jared Leto is helping to raise money for the gay-rights group FAIR ( Freedom Action Inclusion Rights ) by taking part in an auction of celebrity-signed prints of artist Shepard Fairey's "Defend Equality; Love Unites" poster, according to E! Online. Other taking part include Scarlett Johansson, Kim Kardashian and talk-show host Chelsea Handler, who wrote "To my gays. Thank you for being gay!" An event, "Fall Out: The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project," will take place Nov. 12 in West Hollywood, Calif.; see www.faironline.org .

Barbie doesn't have the perfect figure? Who knew? French shoe designer Christian Louboutin, who is giving Barbie a makeover for the doll's 50-year anniversary, feels that her ankles are too fat to wear his shoes, according to SFGate.com. Before Barbie wear three mini versions of his stilettos, Louboutin will reshape her legs—and plastic surgeon Michelle Copeland seems to agree, stating, " [ Barbie ] really doesn't have a full curve to the calf and it goes straight down to the ankle."
