WCT Questionnaire:

1. Would you install a written policy in your office regarding sexual-orientation and gender-identity discrimination?

2. What is your position regarding funding for HIV/AIDS treatment and education? Also, do you favor mandatory Medicaid coverage of those with the disease?

3. Have you taken or would you take any steps to further HIV/AIDS treatment and education programs? If so, what are those measures?

4. What is your position regarding comprehensive sexuality education?

5. The impact of the domestic HIV/AIDS epidemic is hardest on racial minorities. How do you propose addressing those populations?

6. What is your position regarding the inclusion of the trans community in the federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act ( ENDA ) ?

7. What is your position regarding the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" military policy?

8. Have you started or would you start sensitivity training for your staff members regarding LGBT issues?

9. Do you favor same-sex marriages?

10. Do you favor civil unions?

11. Do you favor hate-crimes legislation that increases penalties for crimes based on the sexual orientation or gender identity of the person attacked?

12. Do you believe that LGBT individuals should become foster parents?

13. Do you believe that LGBT individuals have the right to adopt children?

14. What is your position regarding domestic partners of federal employees being eligible for the same benefits that are currently given to spouses of said employees?

15. If you currently hold a political office, are any members of your current staff openly LGBT?

16. Please list any and all experience you have on gay issues.

Note: Among the candidates who responded, the scores ranged from getting one correct to getting all correct.

Obviously, the grading of some answers required some subjectivity. For example, with the last question, there is quite a difference between a candidate who only knows a few gay people and a candidate who has actively fought for LGBT individuals. On the other hand, with same-sex marriages ( #9 ) , a candidate either supports it or does not.
