A spokesperson for superstar singer and gay icon Madonna confirmed the rumors that she is divorcing British director Guy Ritchie, according to CNN International.
Ritchie, 40, and Madonna, 50, married seven years ago in Scotland, but rumors have been circulating that their relationship was increasingly under strain. The couple have two children together: Rocco, 8, and David, 3, adopted from Malawi two years ago. Madonna also has a daughter, Lourdes, 12, from a relationship with Carlos Leon.
The divorce will be Madonna's second. She was married to actor Sean Penn from 1985 to 1989.
Ritchie latest film, RocknRolla, is scheduled for wide release in the United States Oct. 31. Madonna's 'Sticky and Sweet' tour will bring her to Chicago's United Center Oct. 26-27.
