Gay Liberation Network ( GLN ) announced its plans to protest an upcoming lecture by self-proclaimed former lesbian and publisher Charlene Cothran.
The publisher of Venus magazine, a former publication for LGBT African Americans, will present 'How Homosexuality Destroys Families, Not Just Values' in Rockford Thurs., March 13. GLN plans to hold a pro-gay protest to counter Cothran's message.
GLN will carpool from Chicago to the suburb to protest the event, which is free and open to the public. Cothran's presentation will take place at Rockford's Hoffman House, 7550 E. State. The protest will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Civil union lobby day
set for April 9
Equality Illinois will sponsor a lobby day for civil unions at the state capitol on April 9.
Civil union legislation introduced in the House has made it through committee and awaits debate on the floor. Recently, similar legislation was introduced in the Senate.
Civil union legislation supporters can hop on busses that will depart from Chicago's North Side and arrive in Springfield after a short stop in Bolingbrook. The busses will leave Chicago at 7 a.m.
The event is free and welcome to all. Participants will received an orientation and lunch before meeting with legislators to lobby for civil unions, followed by a reception and dinner. Busses will depart from Springfield at approximately 6 p.m.
