Marking a milestone, Gerber/Hart Library will celebrate its 25th anniversary year in 2006. Founded in January 1981 as the 'Midwest Gay and Lesbian Archive and Library,' Gerber/Hart is currently the oldest and largest LGBT library, archives, and cultural center in the Midwest, according to a press release.
The library, located at 1127 W. Granville, will kick off its 25th anniversary Jan. 15 with a 'Breakfast of Champions' cereal and mimosa brunch from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. ( That date marks 25 years to the day of the organization's adoption of the Articles of Establishment. ) All current Gerber/Hart members and donors are invited to the event, which will be catered by Cereality, the new cereal bar and café.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling Gerber/Hart at ( 773 ) 381-8030 or visiting www.gerberhart.org . Reservations with menu choices—which can be viewed at the same Web site—must be received by Jan. 9.
