LGBTQ Activism's Past, Present and Future in Chicago 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Chicago Public Library's Pride Heritage Committee and Brave Space Alliance present a panel discussion around LGBTQ activism in Chicago, with a special focus on the work and stories of black trans people, trans people of color and LGBTQ immigrants, refugees and incarcerated people. Moderated by Pride Action Tank's Executive Director, Kim Hunt.
Panelists include:
Tania Cordova - community educator and advocate, and founder of Ser el Cambio, a support and resource network for trans women of color who have been incarcerated or detained to get back on their feet.
Reyna Ortiz - advocate, activist, author of T, Stands for Truth, and TransSafe Coordinator at Chicago House.
LaSaia Wade - founder of Tennessee Trans Journey Project, member of the Black, Trans and Gender Non-Conforming and Trans Liberation Collectives, and Executive Director of South Side LGBTQ center, Brave Space Alliance.
