In the Czech Republic, Fredy was able to convince SS officials to appoint him to a leadership position within Theresienstadt, where he was able to improve conditions in the children's barracks. After he was deported to Auschwitz, Fredy received permission from the infamous Dr. Mengele to run a daycare center for some 600 children, where he continued working to improve their quality of life in a place of death and despair. A post screening discussion will reflect on the heroic actions of other Upstanders within the LGBTQ+ community. Invite your friends to this event on Facebook Free with Museum admission.
