Our Abortions, Our Stories, Our Lives panel and speakout 6:00pm
Starts with a panel discussion including youth from the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health, followed by an opportunity for attendees to share their own experiences with abortion. Immediately following, reception with refreshments and free portraits by artist Ally Almore. No cost to attend.
"When I had my abortion in 2007, I was simply trying to survive from day-to-day," reflects Brittany Mostiller, Chicago Abortion Fund Program Director, "Having that abortion changed my life; I wanted to capture who I am now: cultivating joy in my life, thriving, raising four amazing young people. and healing along the way. Participating in this campaign was a great way to battle abortion stigma and celebrate my abortion."
The mission of the Chicago Abortion Fund is to advance reproductive autonomy and justice for everyone by providing financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion services and by building collective power and fostering partnerships for political and cultural change. The 1 in 3 Campaign is a project of Advocates for Youth intended to start a new conversation about abortion by telling individual stories free from the stigma and shame women are made to feel about abortion.
