Wright's Accessible Usonian: The Laurent House in Rockford

The Frank Lloyd Wright Trust is hosting a day trip to a Rockford residence-the only home Wright designed to be wheelchair-accessible. The home is one of Wright's "Usonian" designs, noted for their open floor plans on a single level, characteristic of mid-century modern residential architecture. After lunch, the excursion will stop at the William Pettit Chapel in nearby Belvidere. This 1906 building has classic Prairie-style elements, including a central fireplace, continuous bands of windows and wood trim.
