Andersonville's annual Summer Sidewalk Sale
9:00am - 9:00pm

The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce (ACC) will host the annual Andersonville Summer Sidewalk Sale July 27-29 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily (hours vary by business). Over 30 participating businesses ranging from 4800 to 5800 N. Clark Street and the adjacent side streets will expand their storefronts to line the sidewalks with summer sales, bargain antiques, one-of-a-kind merchandise, fashion apparel, furniture, books and more. "The Andersonville Summer Sidewalk Sale is a terrific way for shoppers to experience Andersonville, perhaps even for the first time," said ACC's Executive Director Sara Dinges. "What Andersonville offers - a walkable experience of shopping and eating throughout a beautiful urban neighborhood - you can't find that online or through Prime!" " ACC will headquarter during the event outside at the intersection of Summerdale and Clark in front of the U.S Bank (5340 N Clark) on Friday, July 27 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and over the weekend (July 28 & 29) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The first 500 shoppers to check in at the ACC tent on Saturday or Sunday of the sale (July 28 & 29) with a receipt of purchase totaling $30 or more from a participating Sidewalk Sale business during the event dates, will get a free drink ticket. Jerry's (5419 N. Clark), Appellation (5212 N. Clark), Lady Gregory's (5260 N. Clark), and The Coffee Studio (5628 N. Clark) have signed on as redeemable locations. ACC staff will also be on hand at headquarters to answer questions for shoppers and hand out additional maps. ACC will again invite back buskers to perform throughout the district, encouraging shoppers and families to explore all of Clark Street from North to South during the sale. Visitors should also look for sidewalk chalk markers in the shape of ACC's water tower logo to mark participating locations along the route. The sale will welcome the first-time participation of new retail businesses that have opened in the last year: Cowboys and Astronauts, Foyer Shop, and Strange Cargo Tees. Additional first-time event participants include Martha Mae: Art Supplies & Beautiful Things, Lakeshore Dental Studio, MyEyeDr, Thistle Studios, and author David Jay Collins. "Most customers know the Sidewalk Sale is our 'Super Bowl,'" said Richard Price, co-owner of Alamo Shoes. Alamo begins their sidewalk sale a day early, kicking off with back-to-school specials and discounted summer styles on Thursday, July 26. The Andersonville Summer Sidewalk Sale also coincides with Women and Children First's used book sale, July 28-29, with proceeds benefiting the Women's Voices Fund, a program designed to foster the feminist programming and events that take place year round, including children's events designed to encourage the love of novels at a young age.
