Kia LaBeija at Dyke March Chicago 5:30pm
A public arts program aimed and challenging and exploring how queer people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses are creating new narratives. This month, QIO is partnering with Kia Lebija to kick off the 2018 program in Chicago with a 2-part event series.
Now in the fifth year, QIO has provided a platform for thousands of people to explore, challenge and reinvent narratives about the lives of queer individuals and their relationship to HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses through performance, workshops, film, and education. This year, QIO is expanding its programmatic efforts to provide coordinated support and resources to local arts organizations in Bujumbura, Johannesburg, Mexico City, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, and Toronto to present their own programs alongside QUEER, ILL + OKAY during World AIDS Day in December.
