Joint Book Launch Party: Dale Boyer & Scot O'Hara
7:30pm

A joint author reading for partners Dale Boyer, who will launch his new short-story collection, Thornton Stories, and novelist Scot T. O'Hara, who will read from his recently released novel, Tarantella. A follow-up to The Dandelion Cloud, Boyer's compelling first novel, Thornton Stories is a companion collection of stories dealing with small-town love and loneliness. Peopled with some of the same characters as the novel, this collection creates a fictional town filled with students, teachers and townspeople all exploring life, love, sexuality and loneliness in the heart of isolated rural America. In O'Hara's debut novel, Tarantella, the main character, Anthony grapples with poisonous family dynamics and burgeoning sexuality as he comes-of-age in his Italian/Irish-American family. Anthony must exorcise his past and understand his present if he is to have a future he can live with. In the process, he must determine how - and if - Pop and Ma and Steven fit into that future. Dale Boyer is the author of The Dandelion Cloud. He regularly contributes book reviews to The Gay & Lesbian Review Worldwide, and has published fiction, poetry, and news stories in many different publications. Visit www.DaleBoyerWorks.com for more info. Scot T. O'Hara has worked in technical communications for more than thirty years, including nearly two decades as the Director of Knowledge Management at a major financial firm. Before that, he was an award-winning journalist for a Gannett newspaper in Florida. Born in Rochester, New York, Scot moved to Merritt Island, Florida as a teenager. He earned a BSJ degree from Northwestern University and an MFA in Fiction Writing from Columbia College Chicago. He also attended several Iowa Summer Writing Festivals at the University of Iowa while working on this book. He currently lives in Chicago. Visit www.facebook.com/Scot.OHara/ for more info.
