Kids Story time: LOST AND FOUND CAT with author Amy Shrodes
3:00pm - 4:00pm

An all-ages story time with the author in celebration of this timely picture book. In Lost and Found Cat, an Iraqi family is forced to flee their home, secretly bringing their beloved cat, Kunkush, along with them to Greece. During the crowded boat crossing, Kunkush's carrier breaks and--in a moment--he is gone and his family is brokenhearted. When aid workers in Greece find the lost cat, a people around the world comes together to reunite the cat with his family. This remarkable true story was written and illustrated with the full cooperation of Kunkush's family in hopes of drawing attention to the refugee crisis. Amy Shrodes worked as a volunteer in Greece helping the arriving refugees and raising awareness back at home through a podcast. For this event, limited edition Kunkushie plush dolls made by Syrian mothers living in Izmir, Turkey will be available for purchase as part of a project to create jobs and other opportunities for refugees.
