Covenant House Illinois' inaugural Sleep Out 7:00pm
The Chicago Coalition for the Homeless reports that, each night, approximately 1,800-3,000 unaccompanied youth are homeless in Chicago. Local celebrities, business leaders and young professionals are invited to "sleep out" in solidarity with Chicago's homeless youth. Covenant House Illinois is a daytime service center at the Lawson House, 30 W. Chicago Ave. where homeless youth are welcomed into a safe, caring environment where they can access food, showers, laundry services, computers, and beds for rest.
The Sleep Out is a nationwide campaign that takes place at nineteen Covenant House sites throughout North America. Over the course of the last 10 years, Covenant House Sleep Out events have raised over $36 million and have included celebrity participants such as Robin Roberts (CH New York) and Nikki Sixx (CH California).
