Aging Gracelessly - 50 Shades of Fay
4:00pm - 6:00pm

After four books and countless magazine columns, author Fay Jacobs is touring with a hilarious and moving oral memoir. The reading, called Aging Gracelessly: 50 Shades of Fay is comprised of two short acts (with an intermission for cocktails!) based on Jacobs' four published memoirs. It combines some of her most entertaining stories with a personal narrative covering LGBT and relatable relationship issues plus the nationwide march toward marriage equality. At its core, the reading highlights the author's insistence that nothing is ever so horrible if it's worth the story you can tell. The event has Fay's signature humor and stories of tackling life, liberty and the aging process. After dozens of performances up and down the East Coast, the show has caused quite a buzz. Jacobs has had standing ovations for her shows in New Orleans, Ft. Lauderdale, Winston-Salem North Carolina, aboard an Olivia Caribbean cruise, at CAMP Rehoboth, and many more. She recently performed at the famed Duplex Cabaret on Christopher Street in New York City and venues in Wilmington, DE, Philly and more. Michael Gilles of Theatre Eleven in Annapolis says "Jacobs is a revelation as a performer, navigating hilarious scenes of relationship angst and haunting moments of the challenges of being a gay woman in mainstream America. Her effortless interaction with the audience made it seem she's sharing her stories in a living room with close friends." And Terry Plowman, publisher of the award-winning regional magazine Delaware Beach Life says "Finally got a chance to see Fay Jacobs' Aging Gracelessly show. It was a brilliant piece of work. Funny - of course! - but also insightful, moving, and quite informative about the struggle for gay rights. It has a compelling narrative and her personal delivery of the stories is terrific. Don't miss the chance to see it." Critics have been enchanted by her evening of story-telling, dubbing her "the last comic sitting." So come along for the ride as Fay and her wife Bonnie share life in one boat, two condos, two houses, and an RV, loving a succession of Schnauzers, and being domestic partnered, civil unioned and married. From zip lines to skunk sprays, lesbian invisibility to marriage equality, join Fay Jacobs for the journey. PRICE $___ Suggested Donation Register online now to reserve your spot!
