Tidbits ...

Basketball's tattood anti-hero Dennis Rodman is reportedly back in town Aug. 9 at Crobar, 1543 N. Kingsbury. Rodman will be celebrating with DJ Dave Ralph and loyal sports fans at his official "I'm Back" party. GoldenPalace.com will be bringing a few guests along for the ride.

The New York Post reports that "Tensions between the ex-talk show host Rosie O'Donnell and the corporate backers of Rosie the magazine at Gruner + Jahr USA are ... at the boiling point."

The Hollywood Reporter says Liza Minnelli and David Gest will throw 10 dinner parties in their Manhattan penthouse, invite their famous friends, and let VH1 film. The Osbournes and Anna Nicole with class? Not so sure ... no bedroom deeds.

The New York Observer said that "After just two weekends of filming, HBO has pulled the plug on a planned documentary about five gay men sharing a summer house in Fire Island's Pines community. According to the subjects of the film, HBO executive vice president of original programming Sheila Nevins halted production on the project...which was being helmed by the Emmy-winning directors of The Celluloid Closet...because she felt that negative community reaction to the project had prevented the filmmakers from getting access to Fire Island's 'real' gay social scene." There is also word that it just was not that exciting with older, more settled queens.

Reuters reports that singer Diana Ross, who checked herself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center two months ago, has canceled the remaining dates of her summer concert tour. There was no comment on why.

B96 boyz

The Return of Eddie & Jo Bo: Since May 28, morning listeners of B96 radio were stunned to hear hosts Eddie & JoBo would not be on the air. Immediately, speculation began to spread that the two were going to another station or fired for something they said over the air, as was the case seven years ago. To put rumors to rest, their absence was the result of a contract dispute, as they were coming to the end of their tenure. John Sykes, CEO of Infinity Broadcasting recently announced the return of Eddie and JoBo at a press conference held at WBBM studios, presenting them both with a check for back pay. With their new contract, it is has been said they will receive $20 million over a seven-year period. Listeners of the station have showed enormous support for the jocks by sending letters, e-mails and phone calls. Having been around for 20 years and been voted the No. 1 station in Chicago, so much more is yet to come as they grow stronger. See www.b96.com.
